Harvest home

I know it’s only early August, but it’s starting to feel like summer is coming to an end.

We finally(!) are experiencing some cooler temps with highs recently only in the mid 80s instead of the upper 90s.  We looked back at some of our weather station data and we’ve had at least one day over 100 in every month since April and dozens of days in the 90s.  It has been a hot summer.

Besides the temps starting to get cooler, it also feels like summer is ending because we put our property search on hold for the year and we’ve started heading south – first to Denver and then down to our property in Texas for the winter.  And with the “work” of the property search in the rear-view mirror we’ve made some time for some sight-seeing “vacation” time as we head south.

Before we left Hardin we spent an afternoon out at the Little Bighorn Battlefield Monument.

We came across some wild horses that did not seem too concerned with letting us pass
The “official” memorial for the US cavalry men killed in battle
The “unofficial” memorial for the Cheyenne, Lakota, and Arapaho warriors who lost their lives

And now we’re at Devils Tower.

This is the view out our front door at the campground

It will be nice to relax and enjoy this area for a couple weeks before continuing the journey south.
