2026 travel plans

It’s March and that means we will soon be off on our summer adventures! We’ve decided this year we are going to do a southern loop. We plan to hit nine new states (KA, MO, KY, TN, AL, MS, LA, AR, and OK) and four new national parks.

First we are heading to Denton TX where my grad school friend Teo is a professor. Denton is just outside of the Fort-Worth / Dallas area. We’ll get the fifth-wheel checked over and hopefully not encounter any major issues.

In April we plan to go to Oklahoma City, then the Hot Springs in Arkansas (National Park #1), and spend some time exploring the Mississippi delta area. We have booked New Orleans for three weeks in May. The last week of May we plan to head to Birmingham Alabama then we’re off to the Great Smoky Mountains (National Park #2) for three weeks in June.

July isn’t booked yet but the plan is to: 1) head into Nashville Tennessee for a few weeks, 2) visit Mammoth Cave in Kentucky (National Park #3), 3) stop in St Louis to see the Gateway Arch (National Park #4) and visit family. August is tentatively St Louis and Innsbrook then head back through Kansas to get back to Colorado for September.

October we’ll head to Santa Fe for two weeks and then back down to Alpine, Roadrunner, and finally back to Casa de Mariposa for the Winter.
