I always get behind posting during our summer travels. I still have six or so posts planned covering our adventures this summer but before I get to all that, a quick update. We are currently in Terlingua and attempted to go out to our property yesterday. We always plan to stay at an RV park in Terlingua when we get to town to give us a chance to go see the condition of our road before we haul our fifth wheel out. This area has been getting so much rain that the creek the road crosses was actually flowing and around one and a half feet deep in the middle of the crossing.

We are anxious to get out to our property because we want to check on our water tank (left tied to the other after we hauled it up the ravine), see the solar panels ourselves (our water guy sent us photos (below) of the solar panels that had blown off the shed roof), and see what new plants have grown this summer. The water depth was just a little too close for comfort. I waded out in the middle to see how deep it actually was. The height was around the clearance we have with the truck so our underbelly would’ve gotten wet. We probably could have gotten through and up the mud on the far side but this crossing is about three miles from our property and four miles from the main paved highway. We decided not to risk getting stuck and turned back.

We’re hoping it dries out this week because the plan was to move out to the property this weekend. We’ll try to go out again on Wednesday and then probably again on Friday (it’s supposed to rain again on Friday). If we don’t want to risk moving we think we can extend our stay at this RV park for at least a week.
